Announcement of new releases for Essen Spiel 2022

We proudly present this year’s new product line-up for the international board game fair Essen Spiel in October 2022. Two new games and seven expansions will be available at booth 3-O118 and are now ready for pre-order with the pick-up Essen option and regular parcel delivery.

Eleven: Football Manager Board Game

Eleven: Football Manager Board Game – an economic strategy board game for 1 to 4 players set in a world of sport. The game with all five expansions, successfully crowdfunded on Gamefound in 2021, is now coming to Essen Spiel with a LIMITED PRE-RELEASE.

In Eleven, each player manages a football club throughout a season, trying to outperform other clubs. The game simulates all aspects of running the business. Players choose their Board of Directors, modernize the stadium, hire doctors, trainers, and office professionals, train youngsters, purchase and sell football players, sign up sponsors, and play football matches to climb the league table.

The base game comes with over 270 unique cards, including football players, staff members, directors, sponsors, events, objectives, tactics, and matches, giving it an excellent replayability value. It also contains six scenarios designed for solo gamers.

The five expansions: International Players, International Cup, Stadium, Unexpected Events, and Solo Campaign, bring additional 250 cards with new mechanisms and gameplay modes, giving Eleven unparallel replayability.

Basilica

Basilica – an area control tile-laying game for two players set in medieval Florence. The game comes with premium custom-made wooden pawns depicting medieval characters and offers easy-to-learn rules and heavy player interaction.

In Basilica players take on the roles of competing architects overseeing the construction of a magnificent cathedral. Each turn, they place tiles to enlarge the cathedral and create areas of a single color while placing builder pawns to gain advantages and control areas. In addition, players execute orders to move or remove builders, increase abilities, block spaces, or tear down previously built cathedral parts.

Basilica designed by Łukasz M. Pogoda, was first published in 2010 and further developed by the expansion Festum Fatuorum in 2012. The new edition by Portal Games includes the base game with a revamped game board, custom wooden tokens, and the expansion, offering players a premium full game experience.

Empires of the North: Wrath of the Lighthouse

Empires of the North: Wrath of the Lighthouse – the 5th expansion in the extensive lineup of Empires of the North bringing a fantastic story-driven solo campaign with 15 different scenarios tied by one branching story.

The expansion brings new mechanisms to the game: paragraphs revealing a captivating story, Event cards, new worker type, and upgradable Locations. Failing one scenario doesn’t stop the game but may drive the story in another direction. The campaign’s final result, failing or losing, is determined by partial results from all scenarios marked on the progress sheet.

Wrath of the Lighthouse can be played with almost every faction released for the game, and the branching storyline allows for the repeated play of the entire campaign.

Neuroshima Hex: Pirates

Neuroshima Hex: Pirates – an expansion bringing the 21st army to the highly-acclaimed fast-paced tactical combat game.

The new faction adds a unique feature – an outer ring of water spaces that only specific Pirate units can access, allowing them to attack an enemy from outside the board. It gives Pirates an exciting advantage as they can quickly surround their opponent but are challenging to be encircled by enemy factions. On the other hand, the Pirates’ ship units lack mobility – their only movement is drifting on water spaces in a clockwise direction after every battle. It enables players to predict their future positions and adds long-term strategic planning to the game.
