ARTICLE: About the Master Set

51 enWe are only a few weeks away from the retail release of the 51st State Master Set. The game hits retail on the 25th of May! Be sure to ask your local game store to order yours!

Pre-orders began arriving last week and there has been some confusion about what will be in the retail edition versus what was available for pre-order customers.

1 – The retail version absolutely DOES include wooden tokens. The pre-order tokens were different in that they had some 3d reliefs cut into them and some accents painted on. The retail version will contain regular, high-quality wooden tokens just like our other products.

2 – The retail version contains all 4 basic factions. These are the base factions intended for tournament play. The two extra factions included in the pre-order campaign will not be eligible for official tournament play.

3 – Three Cities – this is a micro expansion that was included in the pre-order copies only. There may be a few copies of these available at a later date (if we have any leftover.) The rules for them are coming! Soon!

4 – Wooden faction discs were included in the pre-order copies only. There are six of them, with stickers, that are used instead of the printed scoring markers.

5 – The pre-order copies included a novella and a Transfer Sheet. The Transfer Sheet is simply a document that shows you the differences between old and new. The novella was a story originally published in Polish which was translated for the campaign.

All the cards, faction boards, scoring track… cardstock and chipboard on the printed stuff… all that stuff is the same between the two editions. The pre-order upgrades are essentially just that… slight upgrades to the components.

Welcome to PORTAL GAMES

We are bookworms. Movie maniacs. Story addicts. We grew up reading Tolkien, Howard, Herbert, Dick, Lem… We were watching Willow, Blade Runner, Never Ending Story, Robin Hood…

And yet, we don’t write books… we don’t make movies. We don’t make those things, because we make games. We make games that tell stories.
