RULES: Stronghold 2nd Edition

It is finally here! The rulebook everyone has been waiting for. The rulebook that I, quite literally, fell asleep working on… not once, but twice! I stayed up many late nights trying to make this the best it could be. It might not be perfect, but I’m proud of it! Also, I accidentally got to contribute my own development to the game by writing a rule wrong and Ignacy liked it! Okay, enough babbling. The rules! -Chevee

In an effort to keep this rulebook short and simple, we decided to keep everything as brief as possible in the main rules. As such, each individual action and ability is only summarized in the rules (hopefully clearly) and is fully explained in a separate supplement. Here’s that supplement.

  • Workshop

    1) On the tile it says “Ladder: 1 hourglass” in the supplement it says “platform: 2 hourglasses”…

  • Defender Actions

    1) Am I right to assume, that all houreglasses remain on the building-tiles and so the defencer actions can only be done once (with the exception of the Barracks)?

  • Ballista

    1) If a unit is killed by the ballista, it is removed from play, not put in the hospital, right?
    2) Can I target units on towers? (presumably not)

  • Trebuchet

    1) Can I aim/target at a tower instead of a wall-section? (as is described in the effect for the Catapult)

  • Catapult

    1) Can I aim for a tower right away, or does the sentence: “If no Cauldrons, a Tower may be targeted” indicate, that a tower can ony be shot at, if the Wall-sections doesn´t have any wall- or Couldron-tokens?

  • So here are a few questions…

    Movement of the defender:

    1) Can I move to Scout´s Quarters? (presumably not)
    2) Can I use the Hero Order (move unit to building + one houreglass) only on the buildings that can be moved to?
    3) Can I move more than 1 unit to the Guardhouse? (presumably no)
    4) If I want to move a unit from the Courtyard to a wall, or do I have to move it to a tower/building first? The rules don´t list the option to move from the Courtyard to the wall. (presumably an oversight in the rules)
    5) Can I move from one tower to another tower directly (presumably not).
    6) Does every movement-step cost one houreglass (presumably yes)

  • We just had our fist game – great game! However, we still have a couple of questions which are not fully covered by the rulebook… Is there a faq up already?

  • Played the game for the first time tonight and I love it. Where can I find the tutorial video?
