  • Dear Ignacy,

As someone who grew up reading classic science fiction and fantasy novels from Tolkien, Howard, Herbert, Lem, Asimov, Clarke etc. one of my favourite stories have always been the Philip K. Dick short story Minority Report and the Steven Spielberg film adaptation of the same name. I have always thought that the idea of being able to predict and change the future before it happens, and being able to arrest criminals before they commit their crimes was an incredibly interesting premise for a story, and that this could be a really cool basis for a board game.

Do you think it would be possible to create a game that could faithfully tell this story, including the changing time paths, time paradoxes, knowing and not knowing the future, changing the future etc.? How would you adapt it into a board game? And as a bonus challenge, how would you make the game deal with the ethical issues that result from the pre-crime system? Arresting someone for something they haven’t yet done because they might do it in the future has a lot of moral implications, and it would be interesting to see a board game that actually dealt with real world issues in addition to being fun.

That’s my challenge, let me know what you think!

    • Woow! That is a #Challenge indeed! Thanks Richard!
