Empires of the North: Roman Banners by Portal Games goes to retail

Gliwice, Poland – February 20th, 2020. Portal Games brings to life the second expansion to Empires of the North: Roman Banners. The expansion including two brand new Roman decks with fresh new game mechanics as well as additional island cards starts selling in retail today.

First of the two factions, Flavian Clan, expands its empire relaying on previously built structures and foundations. So the more has been built, the easier it gets to acquire new structures. The second faction, Trajana Clan, bravely marches toward new territories. But maintaining constantly growing empire requires to pay ever-increasing costs to expand any further. Thanks to the Roman Banners expansion there are now as many as 10 different playing factions in the Empires of the North universe, ensuring massive replayability of the Empires of the North.

Empires of the North: Roman Banners follows the first expansion, Japanese Islands, which debuted at Essen Spiel 2019. It came with beautiful, thematically rich artwork inspired by Japanese culture and introduced 14 new islands as well as 2 new Japanese factions adding new mechanics to the game: trading goods with other clans, storage, docking, and transport.

Empires of the North debuted at GenCon in mid-2019 and has gathered rave reviews in the industry and has already been published in 8 languages: Polish, English, German, Dutch, French, Spanish, Czech and Korean. It is a fast-paced engine-building, resource management civilization game, in which each player leads one of 6 asymmetric clans – coming from Viking, Inuit and Scottish cultures – and builds own empire, conquers new lands, and gathers wealth.
