CONTEST: Last night, on #PortalatNight

Hey everyone, it’s Chevee, excited after a great evening of funny tweets. If you don’t follow us on Twitter, now is a great time to start. For the past 6 months or so, I’ve been taking over the Portal Twitter account after Ignacy goes to bed with #PortalatNight. Recently, we’ve decided to structure it a bit more than just random evenings when I remember to be active… so going forward, Tuesday and Thursday evenings (USA Time) I will be driving content through our Twitter. Tuesdays will mostly be for running some sort of contest or giveaway and Thursdays will be for some behind-the-scenes discussion. I’m always open for chatting though, so be sure to stop by and ask questions!

Last night, I ran an impromptu contest. I let the followers decide what product line we’d run and Imperial Settlers won in a landslide victory. The task was simple: take a picture with your favorite Faction Card. I randomly picked 3 winners:

I tried this quick and simple format instead of the usual week-long contest and I htink everyone had a blast. I’m not saying that all future contests will be short like this one, but I will say that I favor it over all the other methods I’ve tried in the past. I had a blast with each new twitter notification and hope everyone enjoyed themselves.

But wait, that’s not all!

When Ignacy woke up, he selected one winner from the group to receive an additional prize, the coveted BOSS’S CHOICE AWARD

A huge thank you to everyone that followed along and participated! We really do love connecting with the fans. I look forward to many more Twitter nights together. Be sure to check back in on Thursday and ask some questions! When the boss is asleep, he can’t tell me what I’m not allowed to talk about! 😀

Boss’ Choice! Awesome. Thank you, thank you–now I feel less bad about putting you in tiny boxes with me. At least we were inside-the-box ninjas together. I love those little guys.

Honestly, this quick format was really fun Chevee. Quick, easy. And perhaps more likely to lead to people participating all at once in real time. I got into a couple twitter conversations and had fun. My only concern was for our friends in parts of the world where it was very late at night. But then again, it is #PortalatNight!

I’ve successfully run and participated in similar contests that used haiku about gaming subjects. Haiku can generate a lot of responses so I recommend it if you run short of other ideas. And it could run as short as 3 hours or 24hours if you wanted to include Europe. Makes for good social media content afterwards too.

    Cheers,
    Chris
